Wings of Black Ink

Happy holidays and new year to all :D

Billy stared at the wings. The lines of black ink shifted as Johnathan moved. Billy felt almost expectant, waiting for Johnathan to spread his wings and fly away. He reached out and gently ran his fingers over the smooth skin. Johnathan stilled. Billy touched his lips to the skin between the wings.
"You're so fucking gorgeous"
He couldn't see it but he knew Johnathan was smiling.

Quiet drabble

Nick Dal Santo and his love for Justin Timberlake :D

"I'm bringing sexy back" Dal sang.
"YEAH!" Matt yelled from behind him on the couch.
***
The story of Dal and JT( the N'Sync variety, not the North Queensland variety) goes way back. Back to JT's N'Sync days when Dal had first realised his love for JT made him somewhat different from all the other boys.
When he had first met Matt, he had been worried Matt would take his JT addiction the wrong way. Yes, he thought JT was hot. No, he didn't want to sleep with him. Yes, he was irrevocably and undeniably in love with his music. Just his music, mind. But the first thing Matt had done when he had found out was to exclaim "It's like I'm dating a celebrity" because Dal knew he looked a bit like JT and although he was proud of it, there was really no need for Matt to go on and on about it. Really, no need at all.
But all in all Matt had been fairy supportive about the whole thing. He'd even bought Dal a Singstar with all the JT songs programmed in. He'd gotten breakfast in bed for a week.
Yes, Dal was very lucky in love. And he wouldn't trade it for anything.

Four nations aftermath

Wrote this after the final game.

"Where is he?" Cameron asked the trainer, who nodded towards the lockers. Cam found him curled up in a corner and his heart hurt so badly. This was never meant to happen.
He sat down beside him.
Cam didn't know how Brent knew it was him but Brent leaned in to him without even looking, head on his shoulder. Cam could feel him shaking and wrapped his arms around him.
"I'm here" he whispered and he could feel the tears on his skin and wished he didn't feel so helpless.
No one was staring but he knew the boys were watching. And he knew they were feeling as helpless as he was. What could you say to someone who might have played his last game? There were no words. Cam kissed Brent's hair and held him as he shook in his arms.

***

Billy sat next to Cooper and sighed.
"It might not be as bad as he thinks"
Cooper looked at him.
"Maybe. I hope so. But sometimes you just know right?"
Billy looked at Cam and Brent and felt his heart break for them, felt his heart break for Johnathan.
"Next year was supposed to be a good year"
Cooper wrapped an arm around Billy.
"Life's shit sometime, Bill"
Billy looked at him with a sad smile.
"I know"
***

Broke my heart to see Brent Tate at half time. Hope he can comeback sometime next year. Wish the Cowboys a better year next year :)

Ashes and Wine IV

Happy Birthday to Yellowleaf! Here is the last chapter of Ashes and Wine in the honour of this wonderful and glorious day :D

***

“Hello, gorgeous. Can I buy you a drink?”

Dal blinked and looked up to find a man leering at him.

“Um...”

Then he felt arms wrap around him and his first instinct was to pull away but then he heard the voice at his ear.

“No, you can’t! So fuck off” BJ said, glaring at the man.

“I wasn’t asking you”

“Well he’s taken, so get lost alright!” BJ said, pulling Dal closer to him.

The man glared at BJ, looked longingly at Dal and walked away.

“I’m taken?” Dal asked, not turning around.

BJ’s arms around him loosened but remained on his waist. Dal turned to face BJ.

“Dal...”

“Dance with me!” Dal said softly. BJ grinned.

“No way!”

“Come on, BJ, you never dance with me” Dal pleaded, dragging a half hearted BJ towards the dance floor.

“Correction, I don’t dance with anyone” BJ said, eyeing the mass of dancing people with distrust.

Dal turned towards him, slipping his arms around BJ’s neck.

“But I’m not anyone, am I?”

...

He kissed him. He didn't know why he did it. It was muscle memory. Instinct. Because this was Dal and he'd done it so many times before. As Dal melted in to him BJ realised he'd missed this. He wasn't supposed to but he'd missed this. And he knew, even if he would deny it, that Dal had a place in his heart. He couldn't ignore it. Not anymore.
When he drew back from the kiss, he knew he was in trouble.
"BJ...?" hope and fear laced Dal's words and BJ reached up to grip Dal's face with his hands. He touched their foreheads together and breathed.
"We shouldn't....be doing this"
Dal's grip on his shirt loosened and BJ stepped back.
"Goddamn it Dal! I can't be in love with you. I can't!"

“BJ...” Dal tentatively drew forward, resting his hands on BJ’s chest.

BJ gripped Dal’s hands and looked up at him, whose blue eyes were filled with memories and were so familiar that BJ had leaned forward without realising.

“You’re so-“ he didn’t get to finish because the next thing he knew his lips were caught up with Dal’s and he’d forgotten what he had been about to say anyway.

“WHAT THE FUCK?”

They flew back as if burnt.

Justin stood framed at the doorway, surprise quickly giving way to anger. But BJ only had eyes for Lenny. Lenny, who had come in behind Justin was looking at him with wide, dark eyes and he remembered the last time he’d seen this expression on Lenny’s face. BJ had been angry then. But now he could only feel the hollowness of despair as he watched everything he loved disappearing behind the shadows in Lenny’s eyes.

“Len...?”

Lenny flinched and stepped back. Nick appeared behind Lenny just then and Lenny almost walked right in to him in his haste to leave the room. Nick jumped back to avoid a clash as Lenny rushed past him. Nick took one look at the room to understand what had happened, shared a glance with Justin and walked straight out after Lenny.

BJ had taken a step forward after Lenny but froze when Justin looked at him.

“What the fuck do you think you can do?” Justin asked angrily.

“Justin...” Dal began quietly.

Justin turned his angry eyes towards him and Dal shrank back.

“Don’t talk, you idiot! What were you thinking?”

“It’s not his fault” BJ spoke out.

“No, I’m sure it was all you! Because he’s not such a moron to get involved with an asshole like you!”

...

The room was a mess. Broken glass, clothes and other random things strewn all over the floor. Lenny was sitting on the bed, head in hands.

“Lenny?” Nick asked hesitantly.

Lenny looked up revealing a tear stained face.

“Oh, Len” Nick sat down next to Lenny and wrapped his arms around him.

Lenny burrowed in to him and Nick felt the tears soaking in to his shirt.

...

“I asked you not to play with his feelings. Especially after what happened with Aaron. Do you know how hard it was for him to let you in? But he did because he loved you. He did because he trusted you. And you go and do this! I thought better of you, BJ. I thought you were better”

...

BJ looked up as Mini came to join him on the stairs overlooking Moorabbin oval.

“You here to yell at me too?”

Mini laughed, sitting down next to him.

“Nah. Enough people have done that already I think”

“Yeah, well...” BJ looked up at the sky with a sigh.

“What are you going do, BJ?”

“I messed up man. What can I do?”

“Come on, BJ! You’re going give up on him so easily?”

BJ looked at Mini in surprise.

“You...?”

Mini grinned.

“I remember when we first got to the club, you followed him around and your excuse was that you wanted to learn from the best”

BJ smiled, remembering.

“Then he asked you why you didn’t follow Harves around instead” Mini looked at BJ, expecting BJ to finish the story.

“He was more than good enough for me” BJ whispered softly.

“More than good enough”

BJ glanced at Mini.

“When things went south with Aaron, I thought if it’d been me, I would never have hurt him like that. But I did. He was the best thing to ever happen to me and I hurt him worse than anyone”

“Everyone makes mistakes, BJ, even you”

BJ shook his head.

“He trusted me and I let him down. How can I come back from that?”

...

“The look on his face...” Dal sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

“The look on his face when Lenny saw us...” he laughed.

“Like he’d been caught committing the worst crime in history”

Justin watched him.

“What do you want me to say, Dal? You know how he feels about Lenny”

“He loves me too!” Dal cried.

“He loves me too and I know...I know he’d choose Lenny over me every single time” he went on in a voice about to break.

Justin stood up and went to kneel in front of Dal, sitting back against the wall.

“What am I doing, Justin? What the fuck am I doing crying over someone who would always love someone else more than me?”

“You know what you need to do right?” Justin asked quietly.

Dal sighed, thumping his head back against the wall.

“I know. I know...” he sighed and looked at Justin.

“I wish you’d whacked me on the head when this all started. Would have saved everyone a lot of trouble”

Justin grinned.

“And risk killing what little brain cells you have? No way! The coach would never forgive me”

Dal laughed and mock punched him on the arm.

“Shut up man! Not funny”

“Come down to the farm with Nick and me for a few weeks”

“What?” Dal asked, surprised.

“The country air will do you good”

“Are you sure? I don’t want to mess up the holiday for you and Nick”

“You’re a part of our plans, idiot!”

“Really?”

“That’s settled then” Justin said, moving to sit next to Dal on the floor.

Dal leaned in to him and Justin wrapped an arm around him.

“Thanks, Justin” Dal whispered.

Justin kissed Dal’s hair and settled to wait.

...

“Lenny’s my friend” Dal said softly.

BJ remained silent, watching Dal who fiddled with the curtains as he looked out the window.

“And you love him” Dal said, turning to face BJ.

“You love him so much more than me”

BJ held Dal’s blue eyes but said nothing.

Dal laughed.

“We’re such fools!”

“Dal-“

“Don’t! There’s nothing either of us can say to make this better. BJ-“

Dal walked up to stand in front of him.

“We both know what we need to do. So...” Dal’s breath hitched and BJ fought against the urge to touch him.

He watched as Dal took a deep breath to steady himself. His blue eyes were clearer when they looked up at BJ.

“Go back to where you belong, BJ”

...

“I’m sorry, Lenny”

“Dal...”

“He loves you. He can be a complete idiot but he loves you and no one will ever love you better”

“Why are you...?”

“Because I know what he wants. I know what makes him happy and that’s you”

“But-“

“I was safe! I think he was scared that you’d change your mind once you got to know him. He’s never thought himself good enough for you and I was...there. He’s loved you all this time Lenny, there’s no place in his heart for anyone else”

“He’s more than good enough for me... I thought he knew that”

“I guess you’ll have to tell him again”

“Thank you, Dal”

...

“Because I was there when Aaron left. I know what it cost you to step back and let him go. And I hate my self” BJ clenched his fists to force back the tears.

“I hate myself for hurting you. I never meant to”
“Brendon...”

“I’ve waited so long for you. So long. All that time waiting for you to see me, for something to happen. And when it finally happened and you were mine, I knew I was the luckiest guy on the planet. I could have lost everything but you and still been happy. And I know I fucked up. But Lenny that’s not because I love you any less. And I promise you I’ll never forget again”

“Forget what?”

“What you are to me”

“What am I, Brendon?”

“Everything” the tears fell.

“You are everything”

...

“I wanted to thank you both...” BJ looked up. Nick was looking at him, blue eyes clear of anger and disappointment and anything else that had been directed at him in the past few weeks. Justin, on the other hand was not looking at him at all but BJ knew he was listening. Justin was quick to anger but also quick to forgive.

“I know what I did was...” BJ sighed. The right words were so hard to come by.

“I’m sorry I...” He ran a hand through his hair in frustration.

“Hope you were more coherent with Lenny and Dal” Justin said. He still wasn’t looking at him but he wasn’t yelling or angry and maybe he didn’t hate him anymore.

“I don’t want you to hate me!”

Justin and Nick both looked up, surprised.

“I know I’ve lost your trust and I’ll do whatever I can to get it back. I want us to be friends again...if that’s possible” he finished in a small voice.

“We don’t hate you, BJ” Nick said gently.

“You might be an idiot but we know you’d never hurt anyone intentionally. And Dal, although he rarely acts it, is an adult and is responsible for his own actions” Justin said, moving to stand next to Nick. They were smiling.

“BJ, you’re our friend, whatever idiot things you do”

“But if you mess up again, remember, I know where you live” Justin said with a serious face that split in to a wide grin a moment later.

BJ laughed. He had his friends back.

...

Dal was sitting on a side bench when he found him, bags packed next to his feet. BJ sat down next to him.

“Dal-“

“Don’t say anything”

When Dal looked at him there was a small smile on his face.

“You don’t have to say anything, BJ”

BJ felt the tears prickling at the back of his eyes and took a deep breath to steady himself.

“Thank you, Dal. For everything. I’ve never known anyone like you”

Dal grinned and leaned forward to hug him.

“Good luck. Don’t mess it up, okay?”

Dal pulled back as a car pulled up next to the curb. BJ frowned at the car and looked back at Dal.

“Where are you going?”

Just then the passenger side window of the car rolled down and Justin leaned out from the driver’s seat. He nodded at BJ and looked at Dal.

“Let’s go, Dal”

Dal stood up and picked up his bags.

“Justin’s farm. He says it’ll do me good to get some fresh country air”

“Nick?”

“Nick’s got unfinished captaincy duties, he’s gonna come down later but we’ve gotta get going if we want to make it before dark” Justin said.

Dal shouldered his bags and stopped to look at BJ.

“Goodbye, BJ”

BJ smiled.

“See you later, Dal”

...

“I love you” Lenny touched BJ’s face gently.

BJ stood still, he didn’t want to do anything to ruin this moment.

“Don’t ever think that I don’t love you as much as you love me, Brendon...”

All the shades of green in Lenny’s eyes were so vivid in the light of the Sun. BJ couldn’t look away.

Lenny leaned forward and kissed him.

The End.

Never too late.

I think I wrote all of this in one go...so the quality might not be what it should be :D

He’d only just walked in to the hotel lobby when he was engulfed. Hugs and cries of ‘congratulations’ were all he was aware of.

“Thanks guys” he said when he could finally untangle himself. Everyone was there. Nick, Justin, Matt and Dal. All except...

“Where’s Brendon?”

The smiles faded just a little.

“Umm...not sure. He...er...disappeared right after...well...” Justin looked pleadingly at Nick.

“I’m sure he’ll be back before dinner” Nick said helpfully.

- - -

BJ was at the bar, sitting by himself. Lenny went to join him. He hadn’t seen BJ since he got to the hotel.

“Brendon” he greeted sitting down on the seat next to him.

BJ gulped down the vodka before looking at him.

“You’re getting married” BJ’s voice was rough like he’d being shouting or crying. Lenny wasn’t sure how to respond.

“Yeah”

BJ looked away.

“Brendon, are you-“

BJ turned to Lenny suddenly, a huge smile on his face.

“Congratulations”

Then BJ got up and walked away.

- - -

They watched BJ making a run for it out to the balcony of the restaurant.

“That’s not good” Justin commented.

“We should have known this was gonna happen” Matt said, chewing on a piece of bread.

“But now? BJ has great timing” Dal shook his head in despair.

Nick sighed.

“Okay. Dal, go talk to BJ. I’ll see how Lenny’s doing”

“Errr..Nick?” Justin indicated with his head. Nick turned around to see Lenny following BJ out to the balcony.

- - -

BJ was leaning over the balcony, looking out at the city, shoulders hunched against the cold. Lenny settled his jacket around his shoulders.

“Thanks” BJ murmured.

Lenny joined him at the railing.

“What’s going on, Brendon?”

BJ turned around to look at him.

I’m going to lose him anyway.

He took a deep breath.

He held Lenny’s eyes as he leaned forward to kiss him.

“What are you...? Brendon, what?”

I’ve lost him now.

BJ walked away.

- - -

“I’ve lost him now, haven’t I?” BJ asked Nick, who had found him outside sitting on the wet grass.

“He probably hates me now. I’ve fucked up the whole team” BJ continued as the elevator continued to climb.

“You’ve got to talk to him, BJ. You can’t leave this as it is”

BJ sighed.

“I know”

- -

Lenny was looking at him with those great dark eyes and BJ didn’t even know where to start.

“Why, Brendon?”

BJ laughed. Of all the questions.

“Because I’m in love with you. I know I’m such a moron ‘cos I waited till you got engaged. But it’s not like it would have made a difference anyways, is it? I just...please don’t hate me, Len!”

“I’m engaged, Brendon”

“I know. I know. I... can you just forget anything happened? I’ll never bring this up again. We can just go back to the way things were.” BJ looked up at Lenny.

“Len..if you weren’t engaged...would you...?”

“I need some air” Lenny walked out.

- - -

“Why didn’t he tell me?” Lenny sat down heavily on Justin’s bed.

“I mean...he said...I didn’t...I didn’t know”

“It was sort of obvious” Dal said, earning a look from Nick.

“I mean... BJ isn’t the most subtle...for all of us looking from the outside” he clarified.

“All this time, he waited until I got engaged”

‘Wouldn’t have made a difference though, would it?” Justin asked.

Lenny looked at him.

“Lenny? You...Oh my God! You too? Why the fuck didn’t you say anything?”

“Doesn’t matter now, does it? It’s too late”

“Too late? If you love him-“

‘I love Tamara, I’m engaged to her”

“Yes but you obviously feel something for BJ. You should tell him”

“Why? What good will it do, when nothing can come out of it?”

“BJ trusted his heart to you, even when he knew it’d be broken. It’s the least you can do, to let him know that his love is not in vain”

...

“I wish you would have told me a week ago, a month ago...years ago. Brendon...”

“What are you...? What do you mean?”

Lenny stepped forward and touched BJ’s face with gentle fingers.

“I can’t betray her, Brendon. I love her”

BJ could have sworn Lenny’s eyes were shining.

“This is all I can give you”

Lenny touched his lips to BJ’s. And BJ kissed him back.

The tears had spilled from Lenny’s eyes when they drew apart.

“We could have been amazing” BJ whispered, touching the tear tracks on Lenny’s face.

Lenny smiled.

Yeah, they could have been.

Mistakes

So had a desperately boring day yesterday. Sitting down and listening to people go on and on for hours is something I thought i left behind at uni. Anyways they did supply little note pads and I put mine to great use :D

"Billy!" Johnathan thumped on the door.
"Billy, please!"
There was no answer.
Johnathan leaned his head against the door with a sigh.
"Is everything alright?"
Johnathan turned to see Kurt Gidley standing a few feet away and glared.
"None of your business, Gidley"
Kurt just looked at him.
"If you're looking for Cooper's room, it's that one" he pointed to the door to the left of the one Johnathan had been banging on.
"That-" Kurt said, pointing to the door Johnathan had picked "- is Sam Thaiday's room"
Johnathan looked at the door and back at Kurt, mollified.
"Thanks"
- - -
Johnathan knocked on Cooper's door.
"Billy! Billy, please!"
The door abruptly opened and he was suddenly face to face with Cooper Cronk.
"What do you want?" Cooper asked.
"I need to talk to Billy"
Cooper glared.
"Well he doesn't want to talk to you!"
"Billy!" Johnathan called over Cooper's shoulder.
"Billy, I'm sorry. Please...hear me out!"
Silence.
"I don't think I want to listen to anything you have to say right now" Billy's voice came from somewhere within the room.
Johnathan's face fell.
"Billy..."
"You heard him. He doesn't want to talk to you"
Johnathan looked at Cooper.
"Tell him I'm sorry"
- - -
Billy was sitting cross legged on the bed when Cooper came back in to the room.
"Is he...?"
"He's gone"
Billy looked heartbroken.
"I should have talked to him"
Cooper sighed.
"No, you shouldn't have"
He sat down next to Billy on the bed.
"He hurt you. It's only right he suffers a little"
Billy looked at him, eyes wide.
"What if...?"
"He won't. He loves you" Cooper pulled Billy in to a hug.
"It's obvious to see"
- - -
Billy found Johnathan practicing his goal kicking at the local park. The Sun had set but someone had turned the lights on for him. Billy picked up a ball that had rolled away and walked towards Johnathan. Johnathan saw him coming and stopped. Billy kicked the ball he had and Johnathan caught it easily.
"I'm sorry, Billy"
"Johnathan-"
"No, let me say this. I'm sorry for what I said. I just...I wish I was him. He gets to be with you everyday and I'm so jealous that he knows you better than I do"
"I wouldn't be in love with you of you were him. Johnathan, he's my friend. My best friend. And I do love him but not the way I love you. You don't ever have to be jealous" Billy touched Johnathan's face.
"Ever" Billy leaned forward and kissed him.

Snippet

Hallo, Blog! Long time no see. Here's a snippet from the Ashes and Wine follow-up.

I can't!"

Very short, I know :D

For Max

Max Rooke, one of Yellowleaf's most beloved players is retiring. It is a sad thing when our favourites retire (hope mine are years and years away from it!). So I've written something for Yellowleaf to make things (hopefully) easier.

He never thought it'd end this way. But maybe if he allowed himself to be realistic, he should have known it would. That the way he played was not sustainable. Injury would have eventually taken him out. And now it had.
He wished he'd had more time. He wished he could play that one last game. But maybe it was better this way. Because he knew he would have cried. And what sort of a tough man cried infront of people?
He knew it hadn't fully hit him yet. It would, next year. When the new season started. When he would be on the sidelines watching the boys play. This year there was always hope. His knee could have come good. All that money spent on the specialist knee surgeon in Europe could have been worth it. But it didn't and it wasn't.
And now here he was. A retired player. He knew he'd had a better run of it than most. He was a premiership player. And he'd got to play with his friends. His best friends. He wouldn't lose any of them. They'd always be friends. The bonds they shared couldn't break so easily.
He owed so much to this game. To this club. For believing in him. For everything he'd achieved. For Joel. If nothing else, he'd always be grateful for Joel. He knew Joel was hurting. Joel probably found this harder to accept than he did. They'd get through it though.
This was the fate of all who played their great game. No one can play forever and it all comes to an end sooner or later.
This was his time. He wasn't angry or bitter. He'd miss it desperately but he wouldn't fight the inevitable. So this was goodbye.
Now for the rest of his life.

Wolf Blass moments

Hi All! This is my attempt to recreate 'wolf Blass' moments for our pairings (including Dalankars couples - very enjoyable;)) Enjoy!

---Wolf Blass---

Jonathan-Billy, Max-Joel
Nick-Justin,Coop-Brett
Matt-Dal,Cam-Dallas
Israel-Greg,JC-Mackie
Lenny-BJ, Corey

--------------------

'Sometimes there is so much beauty in the world. You feel like you can't take it. You feel like your heart is going to cave in.'
----Ricky

Corey sits up on the grass, on top of a wide hill overlooking the lake. A couple of minutes to sunset. His eyes searching the horizon he spots two figures standing side by side. He turns his head his eyes on the pillar house. A couple was heading in that direction and he could hear the laughter from here. He stands up and heads towards the castle. His attention is taken up by the clinking sound of a bicycle. But the sound soon fades. He reaches the castle. The sun has set. He hears music from inside. He looks up to find a figure leaning against the window on the second floor. He enters the castle. He makes his way up the stairs. He passes a figure in a white suit. Third floor. The source of the music. Two figures dance alone on the ball room floor. He smiles. He remembers the dance he shared with him. He walks away from the room. A man with a hat is making his way through a large door. A dark haired man following close behind. Their hands linked.

The music from the vinyl player rings loud throughout the ball room. As the light dims, BJ steps onto the middle of the dance floor. His eyes not leaving Lenny's.
BJ motions Lenny to come over. Lenny stands his ground. How he is feeling is apparent by the change of colour across his cheeks. BJ begins to dance to the slow music on his own. Turning he looks back at Lenny. He smiles, willing Lenny to join him. Lenny takes a step forward. Then another. He reaches BJ. His fingers are taken by BJ's and his waist by the other's firm hold. Lenny looks up at BJ. 'It’s our time' BJ whispers. Lenny smiles as they both begin to move to the soft music. Lenny dances to the music. BJ slowly swings Lenny around and Lenny's eyes travel the room and come back to BJ. Unaware of everything else. He smiles, truly happy.

Lenny & BJ

The sun has set. Into the high maze he must enter. Carrying a fire lit torch Joel enters knowing he will find Andrew inside. With the torch tight in his hand he leaves the rest of the world behind so he could find his lover.
He takes slow but steady steps through each turn. A cool breeze dances around him, turning the flame of the fire. He knows he is getting closer. Closer to him. An opening. He enters it. He sees a fountain ahead of him. Joel walks towards it. He sees a tall figure by the fountain. His hand in the water he turns his head to look at Joel. Andrew. He straightens up and turns towards him. Joel smiles as he reaches Andrew. The fire illuminates Andrew's face. Golden and beautiful. He returns his smile.

Andrew & Joel

Billy weaves through the crowd. Many catch his eye but he is only looking for one person. He enters the main hall.
Amidst the crowd of black tuxedos and suits he spots a white suit, up on the second floor. Johnathan. He walks down the stairs, unaware of all the stares. Billy smiles as Johnathan finds his way towards him. Johnathan kisses him unaware of all the stares. Billy shyly turns away from the crowd. Johnathan throws his arm around Billy's waist.
'I’m yours' Johnathan whispers in Billy's ear. Billy smiles. Ignoring everyone he leans closer and places a kiss on Johnathan’s lips.

Billy & Johnathan

A small pillar house stands away from the castle overlooking the lake. The sun slowly disappears from the horizon. Israel hides behind one of the large pillars champagne glass in his hand. He hears footsteps approaching. He smiles turning his head towards the clouds. His eyes are watching the changing colours of the sky. His back to the pillar he grips it tight with his free hand. Warm fingers wrap around his fingers. Israel bites his lip still smiling.
He found me.
He turns around to see Greg Inglis smiling shyly at him.
'I found you' Greg whispers. Israel wraps his left arm around Greg's neck.
'You found me.'

Greg & Israel

So he is not here. Dal stares at the foot of the stairs that lead to the castle doors. He turns slowly and walks away from the castle. With each step the sun slowly disappears from the view. He walks along the open fields. The country side is beautiful but he cannot enjoy it because 'he' is not with him. Dal hears the clinking of bells. He turns around just in time to get out of the way of a bicycle. He hears loud laughter ahead of him. Instantly he recognizes the laughter. The bicycle halts and turns around. Dal's face lights up at the sight of him. Matt couldn't wipe the smile of his face as he cycles straight for Dal. His eyes on Dal and Dal only he takes his hands of the handle bars. The bicycle sways to the sides.
'Sorry I’m late' Matt shouts.
Dal is afraid for Matt. But Matt catches the bars before he loses control.
Matt cycles circles around Dal.
Dal turns with him. The world is spinning around them.
Matt stops. Dal walks up to him.
'Get on' Matt smiles. Dal sits down in front of Matt.
'Hold tight’ Matt turns the bicycle back towards the castle.
They ride through the open fields. Dal is so happy. He feels Matt's breath on the side of his cheek. He smiles placing his fingers on top of Matt's. It didn't matter if they return to the castle or not. Dal only wanted Matt. For Matt to be by his side now and always.

Matt & Dal

'Where are we going?' Justin asks as he tightens his hold on Nicks' fingers.
'You’ll see' Nick whispers in his ear. Justin is not sure where Nick is taking him. The silver scarf around his eyes stops him from seeing. But he knows he would follow Nick anywhere. Even to the ends of the earth. The wind is cold against his skin. But the last of sunlight is warm against his skin. He can smell the country. The smell of hay and grass. It takes him back to his childhood days. After much walking they come to a stop. Nick takes him by both hands. He feels Nick’s lips on his skin. Justin smiles. He grips Nick tightly as he feels Nick's hands around his neck.
His fingers on the back of his head. He unties the scarf. Justin opens his eyes. He looks into Nick's blue eyes. Nick is smiling. Justin returns his smile. Nick turns his head. He sees the vast landscape. It is beautiful. The sun is disappearing behind the open fields that seem to go on forever. He remembers home. Justin is so happy but sad at the same time. He turns to Nick. He is watching the sun as it says goodbye to them. His blonde hair golden as the sunlight hit them.
'Thank you' Justin whispers. Nick looks at him. He sees the tears in Justin’s eyes. But he is smiling. Nick smiles as he takes Justin's hands in his. They both stand, their eyes turned towards the disappearing sun.

Nick & Justin

Dallas adjusts his suit and straightens his tie. He is nervous. It has been a while since he had seen him. He is not sure whether he will accept him. Whether he will see him as the person he once loved and cared for. He enters the castle through the large double doors. Many are already here. They are enjoying themselves. Dallas eyes the crowd. He cannot see him.

Cameron glances at the new visitor. He smiles at the nervousness of him. He didn't see him as he continues past him. Cameron gets up from the chair near the large doors and takes a step forward. He watches as Dallas makes his way through the crowd. He looks the same. He hasn't changed. He is glad. He remembers the day he left. The way his heart hurt. How much he wanted to see him. Dallas is walking up the stairs. Cameron rejects the champagne glass offered to him by the waiter as he stands at the foot of the stairs watching Dallas's every movement. He takes a step up, his fingers brushes the cold smooth wood of the stair railing.
Dallas walks through the large hallway. He is not sure if he is here. He needs to see him.
Cameron closes the gap between them. Dallas comes to a stop. He looks through the glass windows. Fire lit lanterns illuminate faces of those who stood outside. He is not here. Cameron is not here. Dallas leans against the window. His forehead touching the cold glass. Cameron takes a step closer. He could see Dallas's reflection on the glass. He smiles. Dallas's eyes land on the figure behind him. That face. Those eyes. That smile. They only belonged to one person. Cameron. He slowly turns around. Dallas waits for Cameron to move his back against the window.
'I’ll punch you if you say sorry one more time' Cameron jokes.
Dallas's mouth curves into a smile.
'Come here' Cameron mouths, his eyes showing a mixture of happiness and sadness.
Dallas closes the gap between them. But he is afraid to lay a hand on Cameron. He leans against him. His head barely touching Cameron's. He closes his eyes. He feels Cameron's face against his. Cameron's hands pull him closer. Dallas slowly wraps his arms around him and rests his head on Cameron's shoulders.
Cameron takes a deep breath, resting his hand on the back of Dallas's neck. He wants to tell him. He wants to tell Dallas so badly the 3 words that drowned his mind. But I’m over goodbyes he tells himself. He hears the words. But they didn't come out of his mouth. They belonged to Dallas Johnson.
'I missed you'

Cam & Dallas

'Psst!' Brett pokes his head through the large purple curtains. He wants to get the attention of the figure in front of him, with his back to him, sipping on his Champagne. Cooper is not sure whether he heard anything. He looks up at the crowd. No one is looking at him. Cooper takes another sip from his champagne glass.
Brett sighs.
'Coopsy!' Brett speaks, this time a bit louder.
Cooper looks up. He knows only person calls him that.
'Brett?' he speaks but he cannot see him.
'Over here' Brett says. Nudging at the purple curtains. Cooper slowly turns around. He is not surprised at seeing Brett. He should be but he is not.
'How did you--' Cooper’s words are cut off by Brett's hushes.
Cooper walks up to Brett.
'Come on' Brett offers his hand from behind the purple curtain.
Cooper looks at Brett with questioning eyes and back at the crowd. He turns back to Brett. He takes his hand. Brett's mouth curves into a wide smile. He grips Cooper's fingers tightly and pulls him into the curtains.
Cooper is surprised to find himself looking up at a stair case.
'Come on. We can make it' Brett turns and rushes to the stairs, pulling Cooper with him.
'How did you-' cooper didn't get to finish his words.
'I have my ways'
'You weren't invited'
'I’m meant to be here. Were you going to spend the night by yourself?' Brett asks making their way up the stairs.
Cooper looks at figure ahead of him. Brett in a suit and hat. He smiles. He knew no one could get in without an invitation. The invitations were sent according to what their heart desired. And who their hearts belonged to. It is Brett.

'I like your hat' Cooper says as they push past a large door. Brett turns around. He looks into Coopers blue eyes. He knows it. Brett smiles. Opening the small door they enter a small balcony. The sun has set and it was dark outside. But it isn't for long. The sky lit up as the first fireworks goes up with a loud 'zsss'.
Cooper eyes follow the bright colours and patterns, full of amazement. They had the best seat in the castle. Cooper couldn’t look away from the lights. Brett couldn't take his eyes off Cooper. He smiles seeing the boy in him. For a second Coopers eyes lands on Brett. He smiles and tightens his fingers around Brett’s. He steels Brett's hat and places it on his head, his head turns as a large red fire cracker burst midway illuminating everything in a red glow. Brett turns his head to the sky, smiling and knowing Cooper didn't belong to anyone. Anyone but him.

Cooper & Brett

Corey arrives at his destination. He opens the large windows. He breathes in the cold night air. His eyes land on the two figures by the fountain. Fireworks begin. His eyes look to the night sky.
'Hi' Corey turns to find Max Rooke behind him.
Corey is surprised.
'You...you couldn't have send me the invitation' Corey laughs.
'No. I didn't' max smiles.
'Where is Joel?'
'He’ll be here' Max smiles as he walks up to Corey. He stands beside Corey.
Max clears his throat.
'You look nice' Max says keeping his eyes on the moon lit sky in front of him.
'Thanks' Corey smiles
'How about a dance?' Max asks.
Corey turned to face Max.
'Tell me that invitation was not from you'
'No' Max smiles.' you're still my friend'
With his hands in his pockets Corey nods.
'You are right'
To the gentle hum of the music from the floors below they dance. It isn't an intimate embrace. They just hold each other. They don't speak, nor does Max hum, which surprises Corey.
'I asked Renee to marry me' Corey says.
Max looks at Corey for a second then looks away.
'Congratulations' Max speaks smiling. He is happy for Corey.

The two figures dancing at the far end of the room next to the large windows are highlighted by the moon light that fell across through the open window. The room is dark and he knew they cannot see him. Joel leans against the wall. His eyes are glued to them. He doesn't blink. He doesn't breathe. Or so he feels.
The doors open with a loud bang. Joel turns his head. It was a couple. A tall dark haired man and a shorter, long blonde haired man who seems to have had too much to drink. The couple backs away and disappears from the view. Joel's eyes turns to the dancing couple. They are no longer dancing.
Max is walking towards him. He can see him. He cannot see Corey.
Max stands in front of Joel. He places his hands on the wall trapping Joel. Joel looks up at Max.
'I can spot those eyes from miles away' Max says.
Joel smiles.
'It was you' Max spoke knowing Joel knew the question to his answer.
'It is you' Max spoke his eyes glued to Joel's eyes which sparkled as the moon light hit him. 'I picked you'
Max releases Joel.
Joel walks to the door. He turns to face Max 'I’ll be at the deck' he smiles and leaves. Max stands at his spot. He turns his head towards the large window. He knows what makes him happy. Who makes him smile. He turns around and runs to find him. He doesn’t have to go too far. Joel is there waiting for him. Max throws his arm around Joel's shoulder. Joel wraps his arm around Max's waist.
'Come on I’ll show you the stars' Max says as they slowly make their way towards the lake.
Joel smiles and takes a glance at the castle. He didn’t invite Corey.

Corey watches the couple disappear from the view into the darkness. He cannot make any sense of this. If Max didn’t invited him- his thought were cut off by the sound of the opening doors.
‘Hi Corey…’

Wolf Blass moments

A while back, Yellowleaf and I did a writing challenge, inspired by the ad for Wolf Blass wine. We wrote our favourite couples in the same setting. This is my take on the whole thing, Yellowleaf will follow after.
Enjoy.

Sequence 1

He moved through the woods. His path lit by the occasional lantern. It was not fully dark yet and the fading light to the west cast strange shadows across the ground. And if he looked back he could still see the mansion in the horizon behind him lit up like a jewel in the darkening light of the day. If he strained he knew he could hear faint music in the air. He smiled to himself and walked on. What he wanted, he knew he wouldn’t find it at the mansion.

---

He watched the other move through the trees. The dark hair and the dark suit created a striking contrast with his pale skin. He watched enchanted. That such a beautiful creature was his, was something he still found hard to believe. He smiled softly and moved deeper in to the forest, knowing that the other would follow.

Sequence 2

He casts a dark silhouette against the darkening sky as he waits. The occasional breeze stirs his long hair. He stares across the horizon and watches the Sun set.

---

He walks up the marble stairs. They almost glow in the golden light of the hall. He looks up and sees the sky ahead. He smiles. He is here.

---

He looks up at the figures on the balcony. They look good together. He knows. They look happy. He smiles and turns away. He doesn’t belong here. He looks back one last time. Goodbye. He will not be here again.

Sequence 3

He laughs. Greg cannot take his eyes away. Israel.

---

He sees him walking away as he turned. He follows.

---

He is smiling. Bright and joyous. He leans forward and kisses him. He can taste the smile on his lips. Brighter than the Sun, his Israel.

Sequence 4

He looks up. The ceiling is so high. Everything glows golden in the light of the hall.

---

He watches Cameron. Lashes so long they cast invisible shadows as he takes in the room.

---

When Cameron lowers his eyes Dallas is there, leaning against the door. He is smiling as he straightens and holds out a hand.

“Dance with me”

Sequence 5

They move across the floor. Oblivious to all else.

---

Eyes so blue. He knows he has never seen their equal. Nothing exists for him but those blue eyes and the feel of his body under his fingers.

---

He touches their heads together and breathes. Justin's eyes are closed. There is a small smile on his face.

“I love you”

More than all things in the world combined. With all my heart.

I love you.

Sequence 6

He wraps his arms around his love and looks down at the ball room down below.

---

He feels the heart beating strong against his back and smiles softly to himself. If this is his last night on Earth, then he is exactly where he wants to be. In Matt's arms.

---

He watches Nick and Justin laughing as they dance across the floor and wonders whether Lenny and BJ have found each other yet. He wonders where most of the league players have disappeared off to as Dallas leads Cameron on to the floor. He kisses Dal's hair as the prince leads his companion on to the dance floor.

“Wanna go down there?”

---

Dal smiles as he turns and touches his lips to Matt's.

“Happy where I am”

With you.

Sequence 7

He leans back and feels Brett shift and tighten his arms around him. They left the mansion behind, needing to spend the night with each other. Cooper watches the Sun move closer to the horizon with half lidded eyes. He feels Brett nuzzling his hair and smiles. This is all he wants.

---

Brett presses small kisses on to Coopers’ dark head. He watches the colours play in the clouds and hopes the others are having fun at the ball. He smiles as the Sun dips below the horizon.

“You know something?”

Cooper turns around to face him.

“You’re perfect”

Cooper stills in his arms, dark eyes unreadable.

Brett doesn’t know he is holding his breath until a slow smile spreads over Coopers’ face.

“So are you”

Sequence 8

Johnathan surfaced, water streaming off him. He almost glowed in the light of the moon and Billy couldn’t look away. He had never been able to.

---

The water was so calm, there were barely any waves. He couldn’t say the same about his heart. There was a creature of ivory and ebony in front of him and Johnathan had never been able to keep his heart when it came to Billy.

---

Billy felt Johnathan's arms encircle him and leaned deeper in to the kiss. He knew they were bound, him and his love, in these waters of silver and gold. They had promised forever and to that promise they would keep.
